New opportunities for May 2008, All opportunities are pay TBD.
CURRENT Film Project: "THE KINGS OF APPLETOWN" - starring Dylan and Cole Sprouse (stars of Disney Channel’s “The SUITE LIFE OF ZACK AND CODY”), Victoria Justice (ZOEY 101), Eileen Brennan ; Directed by Bobby Moresco (Academy Award winner – CRASH, MILLION DOLLAR BABY) ; Music Supervision by Mason Cooper ; Oak Films LLC.
Status: Post Production
Story: A modern story that plays homage to Mark Twain’s classic “Tom Sawyer”... Dylan & Cole Sprouse play WILL and CLAYTON, 14-year-old cousins who are also best friends. Will, a regular school kid being raised by his Aunt, and Clayton, who lives on the other side of the tracks – often escape into their own worlds of adventure. One night, they witness a murder and theft, but out of fear decide to not tell anyone... Conflicted between proving the innocence of a man wrongfully accused and finding a hidden (stolen) treasure, the boys, with the help of their friend Betsy (Victoria Justice), engage in a game of cat and mouse with the real killer. This coming of age story, set in a timeless Americana town and dealing with typical early teenage issues, sets the characters on the edge of adulthood -- a place they may, or may not, want to venture into!
Music Needed: All songs should be lyrically clean/okay for young listeners...
PERFORMED BY:
- All artists – from new to classic, major label to independent to new and emerging...
*** UPDATE: Keeping in mind all of the above - also think Hitchcock mystery for teens (add a little dark and mysterious tones and themes to the above...)
GENERAL SONGS NEEDED:
- Timeless music that fits a wide definition of Americana or hip-folk – small town America that reflects friendship, family, adventure, mischief, teen life/issues, not wanting to grow up, etc... (no ‘love’ songs needed) - think a modern day Tom Sawyer!
- Themes/Styles should be reflected in the lyric and also the music/sonic elements, blending classic and timeless sounds with a youthful demographic. Mostly original songs, but classic/old-time “covers” okay.
TEMP IDEAS – these ideas are the palette to start your thought process with (although keep in mind the young teen demographic):
- John Mellencamp - “This Land Is Your Land” (looking for covers of this song...)
- Jimmy Rogers song “Big Rock Candy Mountain (looking for covers of this song...)
- Jimmy Rogers song (Bono’s version) “Dreaming With Tears In Your Eyes”
- Keb Mo - “Life Is Beautiful”
- John Gorka - “Around This House”
- Patty Griffin - “No Bad News”
- John Prine - “Glory Of True Love”
- others – Steve Earle, The Wreckers, Tab Benoit, Nickel Creek, Woody Guthrie, etc...
(if you've already submitted songs you would like to use for this opportunity they will be automatically considered for all opportunities , you do not have to pay or register them again. If you have already listed your music in the licensing section, there is no need to send an e-mail.
IT HAS ALREADY BEEN SUBMITTED FOR CONSIDERATION FOR THIS PARTICULAR OPPORTUNITY. If there is a new song you would like to add, please see the instructions below ):

NEW FILM PROJECT: Information to be announced for public soon...
Status: Filming
Story: info listed soon...
Music Needed: The following are general styles per character types and scene settings that the director foresees needing...
- Philadelphia BLUES - songs and/or instrumental stylings
- Latin hip-hop - from JLo to Hardcore (think inner city tenements, sitting on the steps hanging out, etc.)
- Classical - opera or piano - these will play counter to "fight" scenes (think ex-bad guy fighting to save kids on the street from violence)
- Etta James type classic/timeless song - about universal love (not romantic), being saved, doing good...
- Bluesy/Rock - tough guy type sound (think underscore to an old time boxer)
Business: This is a limited budget independent film. Initial fees will be negligible, but with good box office and back end bumps. Great project to work catalogues and developing and emerging artists. Possible to work out package deals for multiple uses. Director and Producer with other films in pre-production (with larger budget / major distribution history).
(if you've already submitted songs you would like to use for this opportunity they will be automatically considered for all opportunities , you do not have to pay or register them again. If you have already listed your music in the licensing section, there is no need to send an e-mail.
